MAKK – LONG BIO
MAKK – BIO
Makk are a Yorkshire-based cinematic alt-folk band creating immersive, emotionally charged music that moves between fragile intimacy and widescreen intensity.
Makk are a Yorkshire-based cinematic alt-folk band, blending folk roots with contemporary influences like James Blake, Flyte, and Bon Iver to create something uniquely their own emotionally charged and genre-defying.
Formed three years ago by David Mills-McEvoy, Harry Stobart, and David Bullock, the band expanded in early 2025 with Dexter Duffy-Howard and Lilla Hall.
David’s finger-picked guitar and understated vocals are the foundation, but Harry’s dynamic percussion, Bullock’s ambient bass, Dexter’s evocative violin, and Lilla’s synth work add layers of depth and tension.
Their EP Overlook (2026) explores memory and isolation, and with a growing catalog on the horizon, Makk continue to push their sound into new territory.
With sold-out headline shows across Yorkshire and growing national momentum, Makk define themselves by atmosphere, restraint, and their innovative collective vision.

MAKK – QUOTES & PRESS

"There is an ethereal fragility in his canon of heavenly tunes. It was a set full of highlights, my favourites were “Valleys”, “Fifty” and “Rhyme Or Reason”. But the Radioheadesque “Two” soared high above everything else. If you get a chance to see Makk live then do"

‘Overlook is a superb sophomore EP that explores plenty of different sound profiles and in turn ties two far removed genres to each other in a gorgeous blend of the old and the new.’
